Personal Manifesto. CONSTANTLY SEARCHING.

Reflected intuition. Nonstructural structure. Restlessly still. Analyzing. Sensing pragmatic information. Challenging the easy way. The answer in not knowing. Finding a way or method that works and then changing it. Constantly searching for the non-obvious. Setting up differences and then combining them. Obsessed with interaction between opposites, confronting the challenge, and the persistent search through and towards development.

By keeping opposites separated as conflicting elements they maintain their original stature. They can be understood in the basic intention and used without questioning their meaning or doubting their possibilities. Passively observing and taking no risks.
By combining instantly conflicting words, elements, ways of thinking, methods, parameters, or environments we challenge their potential and start questioning the value of the separated versus the composition. Suddenly with minimal effort we are given unlimited possibilities of interaction and new combinations challenging our way of thinking and working, taking other parameters into perspective, and exploring, searching in a newly created space. A space where our imagination can let itself go and communicate with the information, scenarios, events, and problems we are being presented or have created.

“Recently Separated” indicates the exact opposite – the fragmentation of elements. But by saying “separated” it’s being implied that there once was a “whole”. Something that once was merged together constituting a different objet with other qualities and possibilities as well as disabilities. An other space that somehow was necessary, unavoidable, or tempting to split up – separate into new fragments – recently. Hereby creating a new, unexplored, and challenging space – an opening to creativity and imagination of what have been, is, and can be – comparing the spaces of the “whole” and the “fragments” and observing the development in change. In separation we see if not exactly physical but then imaginable a distance. A tangible created stay which wasn’t “visible” before but know open to investigation and suggestions, and in the comparison with the formerly “whole” a different kind of interaction created through separating instead of combining. Whether we combine two opposite and conflicting elements or separate an instantly united whole we force the elements to relate to each other and interact in a changed setting. By this creating a fundament – and opening – for creativity, challenges, and tests worth aiming at.
Worth mentioning is the importance of the opposites to be relatable. Some kind of connection must exist in order to being able to respond to and create useful interaction.

The opening is to be understood in many ways. In this context as the created space of either combining or separating words and the interaction hereby created. Taking the subject further this interaction is also to be seen in connection with for example personal relations, the composition of materials, construction of physical spaces in buildings or nature, ways of thinking, or working methods. In relation to this the opening is seen as the space of unknown possibilities and unexplored combinations but only visible if searched for. Sometimes it might not be necessary to compare or search for the interaction to solve a problem or deliver a result but by aiming at it we challenge ourselves and our way of understanding and developing.

The investigation of spaces takes place on all levels, in and through different mediums, from imagination and mentally setting up scenarios to the physical observation and experience with the human body. Whether it is in words, by thoughts, pictures or drawings, or in human scale the examination is a goal in itself. The aim at searching limits by constantly exchanging methods and not letting the materials create an obstacle but using what is at hand. Whether it is one Friday night at home balancing a chopping-board with paper on in the right angle towards the sink so that colored water can run through the flour on it without spilling on the floor – all in the search of creating an unpredictable forming of spaces as an investigation connected to a controlled process of developing shapes and stays – or the deliberate attempt to draw with the left hand in the search of an unknown result, it is what I desire. The constant interaction between intuitive ideas and thoughts, the hermeneutic analysis, continuous reflection and tempting challenges combined with concrete basics and new experiments.

A1. OPENING TO MIND. WINDOW SAFARI

QUESTIONING THE OPENING

Trying to see the window as an integrated part of the façade rather than a separate and added element and hereby changing the focus. Letting the opening become a façade in itself so that the glass of the window can be an element worth looking at instead of just looking through. By doing this the immediate opening closes up showing new structures and patterns and keeping the eye from
seeing into the room behind. Depending on how we focus we see through the glass connecting to spaces on each side of the façade or we focus directly on the glass blurring the room behind and allowing the structure to be an element in itself. Questioning whether the opening is that much of an opening in the end and studying how the vulnerable surface is affected by the environment
